Who is a vegan?

Vegan is a word that we all have heard at least once in our lives. In simple words, a Vegan is a person who does not consume any food derived from animal products or does not use anything that comes from animals. The basic principle that vegans follow is to not be a hand that exploits animals or treats them with cruelty for personal gain. These personal benefits include food, clothing, products, or anything that we derive from animals.

A vegan diet does not include the consumption of animal byproducts like milk, cheese, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, and honey. Veganism is a type of vegetarianism but at a stricter level.

In present times, there is a rising trend of being vegan. According to several studies, it has many health benefits. Many celebrities and youth icons are seen endorsing vegan products and their notion. One more thing that has set this into a trend is that it lessens the cruelty that animals have to go through. It highlights the basic principle of humanity, stands up for them, and goes against the killings of animals for one’s personal benefit.

Vegans don’t consume meat to avoid developing heart issues. They have a less cholesterol intake. Vegans on the other hand have fewer chances of having high blood pressure. To sum up vegans have better heart health.

• No diabetes

Vegans have fewer chances of getting diabetes. People who follow a vegan diet have controlled glucose levels. Many doctors recommend diabetic patients follow the vegan diet to control their high sugar levels.

• Fewer chances of cancer

Many vegan diets are highly nutritious. There is no intake of meat and processed animal foods. People who follow a vegan diet have fewer chances of having tumours and cancers. A vegan diet protects against uterine and breast cancers in females. According to several studies, people with vegan diets have low rates of getting cancer in their life.

• Long life

According to health experts, people who follow a vegan diet tend to live a long and healthy life. Their average life span is five times more in comparison to people who are not vegan.

• Healthy body

Overall vegans have a healthy lifestyle due to which they don’t get prone to severe diseases. Vegans thus have a healthy body.

• Better sleep

Many statistics show that a vegan diet is good for the mind. It relaxes the mind to a great extent. It eases the nerve cells and thus giving you a good sleep.
