With summer around the corner and the sunshine at its full bloom, it can only mean ice cream, lemonades, parties, fun time outdoors, and (drumroll, please!) tan lines! Did not expect that, did you? Sure, some people tan on purpose or even get spray tans. It brings a sun-kissed glow to the skin. But on the flip side, too much tanning can also cause some damage. It is sun exposure, after all! If it’s too late for you to cover yourself up or stay in the shade, then try these remedies to reverse it:

Potato And Lemon Juice

Lemon offers oh-so-needed skin brightening properties. Combining it with the vital minerals of potato juice makes the perfect combination for removing tan. To make this concoction, grind a potato and extract the juices. Add one tablespoon of lemon. Use a cotton pad to dab this mixture all over the skin and let it sit for thirty minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Gram Flour With Turmeric

This mixture not only reverses tanning but also acts as an effective exfoliator that gently removes dead skin. Mix two tablespoons of gram flour with a pinch of turmeric and add milk to make a paste. For better results, add a tablespoon of rose water. Cover the skin with this paste and rinse it off with cold water once it dries completely.

Tomato With Yoghurt

Tomatoes have natural bleaching and exfoliating properties due to the citric acid present in them. Mix it with yogurt in a 1:1 ratio. The yogurt aids in the moisturization of the skin. Apply this mixture and let it rest for thirty minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Cucumber Extract

Cucumbers are known for their hydrating and cooling properties. It is the most conveniently available and the most commonly used remedy to sunburns. This is also highly effective as cucumber juice is a mild astringent. Apply cucumber juice directly or with a cotton pad onto the skin and rinse off after thirty minutes.

Honey With Lemon Juice

Both honey and lemon juice are already common ingredients in the beauty department. Luckily, these two ingredients work wonders for tanned and/or sunburnt skin as well. Mix them in a 1:1 ratio and apply this concoction onto the skin directly. Let it sit for twenty minutes and rinse with cold water and a mild soap.

Baking Soda And Water

This versatile concoction works wonders for lightening stained teeth, dark spots, and, of course, tanned skin. Combine these two ingredients to make a paste and leave it on the skin till it dries up. Rinse off with water. Repeat once or twice a week, depending on the pigmentation of the skin.

Coffee Powder/Grounds

As ironic as it is, the dark powdered coffee beans work amazingly to lighten tanned skin. Combine it with a squeeze of lemon juice, and there you have the ultimate skin-lightening potion. You can also add a tablespoon of honey for a dash of moisturization. Rub this paste all over your skin and wash it off after 15-20 minutes.

Strawberries have chemical exfoliating properties. Milk is an effective moisturizer. Mixing them makes the perfect concoction to fight tanned skin. Mix five mashed strawberries with two tablespoons of milk. You can also eat the leftover mixture as it is also quite yummy, so win-win!

Do you hate eating bitter gourd? Well, who doesn’t? It isn’t very pleasant, after all! Who cares that it is full of antioxidants. Well lucky for you, it can be used as an anti-tanning mask. Extract the juice and apply it directly onto the skin. Rinse off after 10 minutes.
